The main difference between the fixed gas rate and the indexed rate is the total amount to be paid at the end of the billing period. With the fixed rate, a stable price is offered for a given period, allowing you to plan your monthly expenses without the need to project additional payments. On the contrary, the indexed rate bases its prices on the market, which means that, according to its fluctuations, the final cost will vary monthly and can mean a benefit or a risk, depending on market changes.

The average gas consumption for a household in Spain varies between 6,000 and 15,000 kWh per year, depending on the size of the home and the use of heating, hot water and cooking. Thus, a family with more members or one that uses gas for heating will have a higher consumption and could even exceed this average.

The choice between a fixed or variable gas rate will depend on your consumption profile and your risk tolerance. Thus, a fixed gas rate will allow you to enjoy the predictability of your monthly expenses, which is ideal to avoid surprises on your bill. On the other hand, a variable rate may provide you with a lower price, but there is always the risk of possible increases.

Switching your supply to Adx Energía is free of charge. However, in the event that you need to install gas in a home, a brand-new gas connection can cost between 1,000 and 2,000 euros. The variations in price will depend on factors such as the location of the supply, the type of installation to be made (whether individual or communal) and the need or not to adapt the existing infrastructure for the installation of the service, as well as the cost of the placement and discharge of the supply.

What is the TUR gas rate?

The TUR (Last Resort Rate or Tarifa de Último Recurso in Spanish) is a rate designed as a measure of protection for small consumers and is offered by only four reference marketers, designated by the government to manage this regulated gas rate.

How to change the gas rate to TUR?

To change your current gas rate to TUR, all you have to do is go to the official website of one of the four suppliers offering this rate.

Who is entitled to TUR rate for gas?

The Last Resource Rate (TUR in Spanish) can be contracted by any individual with an annual consumption of less than 50,000 kWh. This means that all those who have RL.1, RL.2 or RL.3 access rates are entitled to access the TUR.

How do I know if I am in the regulated gas market?

To find out if you are in the regulated gas market, you have to take your last bill and, in the Contract Details section, look for the “contracted rate” field. If it shows “TUR Rate” or “Last Resort Rate,” it means the customer is on the regulated gas market.
